AD currently costs U.S. society over $100 million annually, making it the third most costly disease.

New and effective drugs for Alzheimer’s disease are necessary to instill hope, dignity and self-esteem in both Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. Until now, the lack of understanding about this dreaded disease has caused funding for research to fall seriously short of what is critically needed. The ADDF is the only organization that is specifically focused on financing drug discovery.

The only way we can end the nightmare of this disease is to collectively support scientists in their research efforts to develop new drugs. We encourage you to partner with us to conquer Alzheimer’s.

In 2005, we received over 100 proposals, but were only able to support about 10% of them. In our effort to create innovative approaches to philanthropy, we developed a hybrid investment vehicle that provides individuals the opportunity to contribute to a separate Fund for Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery within the ADDF, which is structured and managed like a for-profit venture fund. Contributors to the Fund can designate a 501(c)(3) organization to receive a pro rata return on investment, if and when grant-funded scientists achieve contractual milestones.
