Marti Dinerstein is President of Immigration Matters, a New York City-based public policy firm whose mission is to stimulate debate on the complex and contentious issues surrounding immigration to the U.S.

She also is a Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, D.C., a think tank which has published four monographs she authored. Topics on which she writes and speaks include the nexus between homeland security and immigration, document fraud and identity theft, and non-enforcement of U.S. immigration, Social Security and labor laws.

Sourced often by the media, she has been quoted in The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, The Boston Globe, Business Week and National Review among others. A sampling of her broadcast appearances includes CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, CSPAN and National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered. In addition, Mrs. Dinerstein was honored to testify at a Congressional hearing of the House Judiciary’s subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security and Claims.

Her previous professional activities include broad-based communications, marketing, management and consulting experience in the financial services industry and the public sector. Throughout the 1990s, she was a Managing Director and chief marketing officer of U.S. Trust.

She also was a principal at MLD Associates, a marketing consultancy business serving financial institutions and professional practice firms. She headed the marketing and corporate communications areas at The Bank of New York, where she was named the first woman Senior Vice President in the bank’s 200-year history.

Before beginning her financial services career, she served as Acting Director of the New York State Consumer Protection Board and also held speechwriting and public relations positions in the Mayor and Governor’s offices of New York City and New York State, respectively.

She serves on the Board of Directors of The Westchester Land Trust and NumbersUSA. Advisory boards include the Council on Foreign Relations’ Women in Foreign Policy initiative and the Brookings Council. Mrs. Dinerstein is a former trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission in New York City and served as a David Rockefeller Fellow under the auspices of the New York City Partnership.

She holds an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in political science/Latin American studies from Ohio State University.
