Scientific Program Manager

Rachel Lane, PhD is the Scientific Program Manager at the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation. Dr. Lane’s responsibilities include supporting all aspects of the foundations drug discovery and development programs and developing resources to address critical unmet needs of researchers in the field.

Dr. Lane earned her PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Sheffield in England before completing 3 years of postdoctoral training at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Lane’s postdoctoral research, in a team led by Dr. Sam Gandy, uncovered mechanistic links between Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Throughout her PhD and postdoctoral work, Dr. Lane has published numerous first authored publications in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Lane co-founded and chaired the Postdoctoral Association at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and has actively been involved with the New York Academy of Sciences to provide training resources to the New York postdoctoral community.

In addition to her postdoctoral research, Dr. Lane has gained experience in drug development programs through interning as an analyst at a NY based venture capital firm and through completion of the Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry Program at Stony Brook University, for which she received a Directors scholarship.
