Inaugural Hope on the Horizon Chicago Dinner – November 5, 2012

The Art Institute of Chicago

On Monday, November 5, 2012, the ADDF hosted its inaugural Hope on the Horizon Chicago Dinner at The Art Institute of Chicago. Chairs Nancy and A. Steven Crown and Leonard A. Lauder, along with 18 co-chairs, helped raise nearly $1.5 million for Alzheimer’s drug research. 265 guests enjoyed cocktails in Terzo Piano, dinner in the beautifully-appointed Griffin Court, and a special performance by legendary guitarist and singer Glen Campbell. The evening’s program focused on the urgency of funding innovative drug research.

Event highlights included:

– Award-winning actress Jane Seymour hosted the event as Mistress of Ceremonies.

– Leonard A. Lauder introduced the audience to the ADDF, declaring “We are dedicated to making this disease history – and it will become history.”

– Howard Fillit, MD, ADDF Executive Director and Chief Science Officer, provided background on the current state of Alzheimer’s drug discovery and projects the ADDF is funding in the Chicago area.

–Filmmakers James Keach and Trevor Albert shared an exclusive video preview of a feature-length documentary they are producing, which chronicles Glen Campbell’s “Farewell Tour.”

–Special performance by Glen Campbell, who took the stage with his children, Ashley and Shannon. Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2011.
