On Thursday, March 3, the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) honored Aerin Lauder and Jane Lauder at the Fifth Annual Hope on the Horizon event. Aerin and Jane received the 2022 Hope on the Horizon award for their leadership, advocacy, and support of the prevention, treatment, and cure of Alzheimer’s disease.

The event raised more than $1,000,000, every dollar of which will go directly toward drug development research to prevent, treat, and cure Alzheimer’s disease. The ADDF is the only nonprofit solely focused on accelerating the development of drugs for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s.

“It’s a huge honor to be acknowledged with my sister by this extraordinary foundation, one that has been very important to our family. Over the past two years when everyone’s life has changed so dramatically, what’s important is health and family. The work the ADDF does to prevent this devastating disease and ultimately preserve memories is exceptional,” said Aerin Lauder, 2022 Hope on the Horizon Awardee. Aerin serves as the Founder and Creative Director of AERIN and Style and Image Director at The Estée Lauder Companies.

“I’m very humbled and grateful to be honored by the ADDF alongside my sister. Alzheimer’s disease doesn’t just impact the individuals who are diagnosed, but also their families and friends, and a much wider array of people that really suffer from this disease. I’m so proud we’re able to support this foundation to find drugs that will help treat and cure Alzheimer’s,” said Jane Lauder, 2022 Hope on the Horizon Awardee. Jane serves as the Executive Vice President, Enterprise Marketing and Chief Data Officer at The Estée Lauder Companies.

Notable guests including Ronald S. and Jo Carole Lauder, Nacho Figueras, Delfina Blaquier, Eleanora Kennedy, Bonnie Lautenberg, Nancy Goodes, Heidi McWilliams, Gary and Laura Lauder, Josh Lauder, and Katherine Chan were among 200 supporters in attendance.

Ronald S. Lauder, Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the ADDF, remarked, “I am immensely proud that my daughters, Aerin and Jane, are receiving the Hope on the Horizon Award because I know how much it means to them, and I know how much the ADDF means to them. They’re both amazing women.”

“Alzheimer’s is a family disease. It touches every family member, every caregiver, and every loved one. This is something our family, and so many families, know first-hand. And it is why all of us in the ADDF family and the Lauder family are so committed to finding a cure. I could not be prouder of my wonderful nieces, Aerin and Jane, for being honored for their incredible support of the ADDF. Their generosity, their kindness, and their dedication to eradicating this disease is so admirable,” said Leonard A. Lauder, Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the ADDF.

The event featured an in-depth discussion on the latest advances in Alzheimer’s prevention research with Dr. Howard Fillit, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at the ADDF, and Dr. Miia Kivipelto, Founder of the FINGERS Brain Health Institute, Professor of Clinical Geriatrics at the Karolinska Institute Center for Alzheimer Research, and Senior Geriatrician and Director for Research and Development of Medical Unit Aging at Karolinska University Hospital. Dr. Kivipelto also serves on the ADDF’s Board of Governors.
