T.J. Oshie, in partnership with WARROAD, the Super Service Challenge, and NT Concepts, hosted a broomball tournament on Wednesday, February 5th at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, which raised over $40,000 for the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF).

Oshie became involved with the ADDF as a result of his father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, and was honored last year at the ADDF Great Ladies Luncheon in Washington D.C, where he delivered a message of hope, saying, “The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation has given me and my family hope that with the advancement of medicine … we will one day prevent Alzheimer's and find a cure.” At the February 5th fundraiser, Oshie continued to support a cause near and dear to his heart through his passion for hockey.

Individuals were invited to participate in or watch the tournament, with those buying in at higher sponsorship levels being invited to a reception with Oshie. The event was followed by an awards ceremony for the winners of the tournament and the presentation of a check by Oshie to the ADDF’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Roithmayr.

Roithmayr thanked Oshie, saying, “We are grateful for T.J.’s support of the ADDF and his commitment to our goal of finding effective treatments to benefit the many patients and families impacted by Alzheimer’s.”

All proceeds from the fundraiser, as well as donations made through the Super Service Challenge website, went toward the ADDF’s mission of rapidly accelerating the discovery of drugs to prevent, treat, and cure Alzheimer's disease.
