2019 Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD) Summit
On March 14-15, 2019, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will convene the 3rd Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD) Summit, bringing together more than 500 leading researchers and notable dementia experts from academia, industry, the nonprofit sector, and government agencies to gather input and prioritize current ADRD research and milestones. Organized by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the Summit will take place at the Natcher Conference Center on NIH's Bethesda, MD campus.
The primary objectives of the Summit include:
- Review scientific progress on research recommendations set by the ADRD Summit 2016, refine these recommendations and identify new priorities based on recent scientific discoveries
- Continue the development of an integrated multidisciplinary research agenda necessary to address critical knowledge gaps and accelerate the discovery and delivery of efficacious treatments for dementia patients at all stages of disease
- Gather input from key stakeholders on current ADRD research priorities and milestones
- Refine and develop new recommendations on the following session topics: multiple etiology dementia, health disparities in dementia, Lewy body dementia, dementia nomenclature, vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia, frontotemporal degeneration and emerging topics in dementia research
- Update priorities and timelines for addressing the Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias
